For visitors, Laos still is the most unknown and least developed country of Indochina. Maybe it is due to the fact that "the country of a million elephants" is the only South East Asian country without access to the sea, or maybe because Laos has never played a significant role in world history and had disappeared in the 19th century from the maps for a considerably long period of time.

Today, Laos's capital, Vientiane, reminds us more of some South East Asian provincial town; without its usual hustle and bustle, but with marvellous temples and leisure markets. Luang Prabang in the north part of Laos is certainly one of most culturally interesting places, and the "Plain of Jars" one of the most mysterious destinations in South East Asia.

Itinerary

Day 1 Vientiane
Arrival in Vientiane. Transfer to the hotell. your guide then takes you on a city orientation tour with a lunch at local restaurant. Overnight at Lao Plaza Hotel(L)

Day 2 Luang Prabang
In the morning, fly to Luang Prabang, second city of Laos and former imperial capital. After lunch Visit Vat Phousy on the top of the hill overlooking the Mekong River, Vat May, Vat Visoun and the beautiful Vat Xieng Thong. Stay at Villa Santi Hotel for three nights. (B, L)

Day 3 Luang Prabang
A river boat excursion takes us upstream on the Mekong River to visit the famous caves of Pak-Ou, located at the side of the steep cliff on the bank of the Mekong River housing hundreds of Buddha statues. Picnic lunch at the bamboo cottage at the bank of the river. En route, visit a local rice-wine distillery and Ban Phanom weaving village
Return to hotel in the late afternoon. Overnight at hotel (B, L)

Day 4 Luang Prabang
In the morning, visit the National Museum and the former Royal Palace. Free at leisure rest of the day to explore. Overnight at hotel (B)

Day 5 Luang Prabang
Transfer to airport for your flight to another destination.
